We welcome all to the 38th Annual Meeting of the European Musculo-Skeletal Oncology Society and the 26th EMSOS Nurse and Allied Professions Group Meeting in our beautiful town of Estoril.
The meeting will open with a first full day, dedicated to residents, young researchers and doctors initiating in the field of Musculo-Skeletal Oncology, in our traditional Training Day.
Both the Training Day and the main meeting will focus on this year central theme: Multidisciplinary. Our goal is to explore the multidisciplinary management of patients from diagnosis to treatment, including the role of new technologies and advances in translational research.
This meeting offers EMSOS members and non-members, alike a unique opportunity to discuss and engage with the latest developments in our field, through crossfire sessions, case discussions between different centres, and efforts to build consensus among participants.
Portugal has a long tradition in academic education, alongside with an amazing and unique hospitality. We are confident that our time in Estoril will make for an unforgettable meeting and lasting memories.
Join us for an enriching opportunity to enhance your expertise in the field.

DISCUSSION
THE ROLE OF NEOADJUVANT THERAPY IN HIGH-RISK SOFT TISSUE SARCOMA: WHAT'S THE BEST MANAGEMENT
Oncologist, pathologist, radiation oncologist, Orthopedic surgeon
Discuss evidence and controversies around chemo- and radiotherapy before surgery; evaluate histologic response and impact on margins.
CROSS-FIRE
Neoadjuvant chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy should be standard for all high-risk soft tissue sarcomas.
Teams can argue for universal use vs. selective/individualized approaches and the use of a prediction model.
Different centers experience or 4 oral presentations about the topic.
DISCUSSION
MANAGING RECURRENCE: WHEN TO RE-OPERATE, RE-IRRADIATE, OR SWITCH STRATEGY
Orthopedic surgeon, radiation oncologist, oncologist
Multimodal approaches to local and systemic recurrence.
CROSS-FIRE
Aggressive local treatment is justified for most sarcoma recurrences.
Argue for vs. against re-operation or re-irradiation in recurrent disease.
Different centers experience or 4 oral presentations about the topic.
DISCUSSION
RADIOTHERAPY IN SARCOMA: INDICATIONS, TECHNIQUES AND TIMING
Radiation oncologist, Orthopedic surgeon, oncologist
IMRT, proton therapy, neoadjuvant vs. adjuvant strategies.
CROSS-FIRE
Neoadjuvant radiotherapy should be preferred over adjuvant radiotherapy in sarcoma management. & Proton beam radiotherapy should be preferred over standard radiotherapy in sarcoma management.
One team argues for neoadjuvant or Proton as standard, the other for adjuvant or standard and discuss options in individualized choice.
Different centers experience or 4 oral presentations about the topic.
DISCUSSION
HOW MUCH MARGIN IS ENOUGH? RETHINKING RESECTION MARGINS
Pathologist, Radiation oncologist, Orthopedic surgeon
Multidisciplinary discussion on margins in STS and bone sarcoma, implications for adjuvant treatment.
CROSS-FIRE
Current margin standards in sarcoma surgery are too conservative and should be reduced.
Argue for smaller margins vs. maintaining/expanding current margins.
